Poultry Standard development

National consultation for the Poultry Standard was coordinated by Food Standards Australia New Zealand (FSANZ). The NSW Food Authority, along with interstate regulators, industry representatives and consumers was part of a Standard Development Committee (SDC).

The SDC was established to advise and assist FSANZ with the development of the Poultry Standard and to respond to submissions received through public consultation.

Implementation

The Poultry Standard was gazetted on 20 May 2010 with a 2 year implementation period. The Final Assessment Report outlines the background, impact and implementation of the Poultry Standard.

Implementation of the Poultry Standard is the responsibility of the states and territories. The Implementation Subcommittee for Food Regulation (ISFR) has facilitated a nationally consistent approach to the implementation of the Poultry Standard.
