5 Mar 2015

The NSW Food Authority’s CEO Polly Bennett has congratulated two dairy producers who were crowned Champion Cheddar Cheese and Champion Specialty Cheese at the 2015 Sydney Royal Cheese & Dairy Produce Show whilst also acknowledging the aquaculture producer crowned Champion Sydney Rock Oyster at the 2015 Sydney Fine Food Show – Aquaculture Competition.

NSW dairy producer Bega Cheese once again took out the NSW Food Authority sponsored Champion Cheddar, this time for its ‘Rindless Cheddar Cheese – Sweet Recipe’ exhibit while The Heritage Burnie of Tasmania was awarded Champion Specialty for its ‘Heidi Farm Raclette’ exhibit.

NSW aquaculture producer, Tathra Oysters, was awarded the NSW Food Authority perpetual trophy for their Champion Sydney Rock Oyster Exhibit for the 12th year.

Ms Bennett said the NSW Food Authority was a proud sponsor of these events which recognise and celebrate excellence and innovation in the dairy and aquaculture industries.

"The Royal Agricultural Society of NSW has a long and proud history of supporting NSW producers and manufacturers," Ms Bennett said.

"I congratulate all of the entrants, particularly those crowned winners and would like to note, once again, the strong performance by NSW producers.

"It is encouraging to see local producers performing at the top of their class against a national field.

"This is testament to the quality of the dairy and aquaculture industries in this state and the high standard of our produce.

"The NSW Food Authority works closely with the NSW dairy and aquaculture industries on a daily basis. We are committed to food safety and work with our industry partners across the food chain from primary production to point of sale in an effort to deliver on our goal of bringing safe food to consumers.

"I value the relationship we enjoy with both the NSW dairy industry and NSW aquaculture industry and look forward to continuing to work along side them."
