UPDATE: Chocolatier Australia Christmas Caramels and Gingerbread Chocolates

UPDATED 8 November 2022: Original advice was that this recalled product was due to Plum Puddings being mislabeled as Christmas Caramels only. We have since been advised that Plum Puddings have also been mislabeled as Gingerbread Chocolates.

The NSW Food Authority advises: 

Product information: 

Chocolatier Australia Pty Ltd is conducting a recall of their Plum Puddings which have been mislabeled as Christmas Caramels or Gingerbread Chocolates. The product has been available for sale at independent stores nationally. 

Date markings: Best Before JUL 2023 with batch code 209.22 and Best Before OCT 2023 with batch code 293.22​

Problem: The recall is due to Plum Puddings being mislabeled as Christmas Caramels or Gingerbread Chocolates resulting in the presence of an undeclared allergen (tree nuts [almond]) and an undeclared ingredient (alcohol). 

Food safety hazard: Any consumers who have an almond allergy or intolerance may have a reaction if the product is consumed. Consumers who may have an adverse response to alcohol should not consume this product. 

Country of origin: Australia 

What to do​: Consumers should not eat this product and should return it to the place of purchase for a full refund. Any consumers concerned about their health should seek medical advice.
